OK these people just piss me off!

Here' a brilliant idea, lets cover the Arkansas river and ruin the landscape in the name of art! I had to write a short note to the Colorado dept of land management expressing my enthusiasm over these idiots and their grandiose ideas of what art is. Just my opinion. But you should express yours here

As an artist and painter, I understand the need to creatively express oneself and I understand where these "artists" are coming from in a sense. However, disrupting the ecosystem, habitat and  income of the many people who rely on your river to erect what is nothing more than an attention seeking eyesore on an otherwise beautiful landscape is not only irresponsible but looks to be about as pretty as the oil spill in the gulf of Mexico. Perhaps you should consider some art that would be less destructive to the river such as hiring a bunch of graffiti artists to decorate all the rocks along the stretch with spray paint so at least the fishing guides wouldn't lose as much income. Depending on who you ask, some would consider that just as, if not more beautiful.

Fishing Italy with Capitan Rusty Hook

My friend Capitan Rusty Hook with some of his catches from his home waters of Sardinia. In addition to owning a restuarant and making his own wine, Mattia also has a great fishing blog that tells a lot about fishing that neck of the woods. Even if you cant read Italian you should check it out! http://capitanrustyhook.blogspot.com

"Luminous Brook Trout" 18x24 oil on canvas

    Brook Trout fish art, Painting

    Framed Brookie Painting

New Brook Trout Painting I completed today. This one took me awhile due to the fact that Brookies have a lot of detail in the chain work on their backs. At the same time wanted to concentrate more on mood and calmness of the stream. This original  painting measures 18 x 24" oil on canvas, shown with optional gold plein air frame. "All Ahead Flank" Blue Marlin painting, 30x40 oil on canvas

    Original Blue marlin painting

I have been seriously looking forward to doing my first large canvas in oil, so what better to try it out on than a large Blue Marlin painting. I wanted to get a different perspective on this piece than the angles I usually see, and also portray him powering up to dive on the school of baitfish. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed painting it. This oil painting measures 30x40 inches on traditional canvas. If you like  Blue Marlin art or enjoy fishing for them click here for more information

    Bonefish Painting, " Them Bones " 18 x 24 oil on canvas

Original Bonefish art, Them Bones, bonefish painting

detail impressionist fish art, bonefish painting

    "Them Bones"

Been really enjoying working greasy lately and decided to relate it in a bonefish topwater painting. Impressionism and loose strong brushwork has always intrigued me, and although sometimes I like to paint tight, sometimes I love to just grab the brush by the very end, fully extend my arm and push thick paint around the canvas. I love how it creates movement as if there was the slightest bit of disturbance in the shallow water, bending light, color and line. This particular original bonefish painting is oil on canvas, 18 x 24 for more information or to purchase click and image or CLICK HERE

Plum Island landscape painting in oil

No fish art today. Though, here is a landscape study of Plum Island in Newburyport Ma, where I like to fish.

I did some kayak fishing there a few days ago and when the sun begins to set there are amazing colors.
There are three places in New England I find the light amazing for painting, one is here on Plum island the others are Gloucester and Provincetown. They seem to have rules of their own when the sun rises or sets.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO TAKE IT HOME TODAY!

Snook painting, Head study in oil 8 x 10 Fishing art

Snook fishing art, Snook head study, oil painting

Snook head study in oil. I had the chance to fish for these down in Costa Rica, which can be a daunting
experience because the crocodiles like them as well which lends itself to some fierce competition and nervous wading experiences. Never the less they are a formidable adversary with fierce line stripping runs and a great fight, so I thought it was time to honor them with some attention from the brush. This small 8 x10 oil on board is my first study of a truly great and elusive gamefish. For more images or to purchase CLICK HERE
