This is a very vibrant, and colorful depiction of Striped Bass hunting in the shallows.

The technique I use for these type of paintings is one I developed and involves as many as 50 layers of paint to achieve a very vibrant 3 dimensional effect. The fish themselves I keep almost abstract in areas, concentrating more on color, movement and music in the painting instead of hard line biological correctness. When these paintings are lit properly from above and have the proper viewing distance they move and breathe on their own. You can almost reach into the painting and catch one with your hands.

This is a huge amazing painting! A room could be built around it. It was juried into the Duxbury art associations winter juried showand was hanging in the Duxbury art museum during the winter of 2006. It is currently located at Black Sheep Gallery on Rocky Neck in Gloucester, Ma.
