Mike Savlen welcomes the opportunity to provide commission pieces for corporate accounts and private collectors. Fine art commissions are available to individuals, lodges, businesses in the sporting industry, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. I complete commissions by working closely with clients through email and phone conversations, or in person if the location allows for it. I can work from personal photographs or specific requirements to produce an original painting that will be cherished for generations. The requirements for this piece were Sockeye salmon in maritime colors before they entered the stream to spawn. Whereas they are mainly silver colored at this time I chose to push the colors and add the rocks angled upward as in a river mouth. The rays of light and contrasting colors add depth and a very 3 dimensional effect to this type of painting. I really enjoy doing these but they usually take a while. This piece measures 12 x 36 and I would be happy to do one like this of any species you choose. |

The requirements for this piece were simply a winter storm coming over a Vermont field, with perhaps a nice buck in the foreground.The collectors wanted more realism in this piece as well as wanting it to appear cold because it was going over a large fireplace. I chose to use a sharp contrast between the earth and sky in this painting to show the power and depth of the storm, with the wary buck keeping a sharp eye on it before heading for cover. This piece measures 30 x 40 inches, and it does make you want to sit in front of the fire.
